Real-time physical-asset liveness
Prove the item is real,
right then and there.
Anyone can post a listing with photos pulled off the web — buyers have no way to tell what's actually real. Item Verified flips the question: instead of trusting the seller, we verify the item. One 5-second, randomized live video proves it's physically in the seller's hands before the listing ever goes live.
The problem
A photo isn't proof the item exists.
On marketplaces like Pinkbike, anyone can post anything. The photos can be lifted from another listing, the item can be long gone, or it can be something else entirely once it ships. Buyers send money on faith.
Identity checks don't fix this — the problem was never whothe seller is. It's whether the thing in the listing is actually there, in their hands, right now.
So that's the only question we ask: prove the item is real, in real time — on every listing.
How it works
Five seconds for the seller. Total confidence for the buyer.
- 01
Seller posts a listing
After they hit post, the seller is routed to a quick verification screen — no extra account setup, no document upload. Run it on every listing, or just the categories you choose.
- 02
We send a randomized motion script to their phone
They scan a QR code to their phone. No app to install — it runs entirely in the mobile browser. Each session gets a fresh, unpredictable camera-motion script (e.g. “start on the rear derailleur, pan up to the bars”).
- 03
They film a 5-second live video
The AI checks three things at once: that the motion is live and unscripted (anti pre-recording), that there’s no screen-replay spoofing, and that the item visually matches the claimed listing.
- 04
Passes → the listing goes live
Clean check, instant publish. Anything ambiguous never becomes a wrongful rejection — a human takes a quick look and the seller is told their listing is safe while it’s reviewed.
A legitimate seller is never wrongly denied. The engine only rejects on clear screen-spoofing or a confident bait-and-switch. Every other ambiguous case routes to a calm human review — the listing stays safe while a person takes a quick look.
Watch it work
Ten seconds for the seller. A caught scam for everyone else.
Play both sides: a real seller sailing through, and a scammer filming a photo of the item — stopped by the physics of the check, not a form.
Then try it as the seller — post a listing and verify a real item with your phone.
a listing is waiting to go live
A seller just posted a SRAM Maven brakeset. Before buyers can see it, they prove the item is really in their hands.
Why it can't be faked
Four independent walls a scammer has to beat at once.
Browser-only mobile capture
Capture happens live in the phone’s camera — there’s no file-upload path. That closes the door on virtual-camera injection and pre-rendered footage.
Randomized per-session scripts
Every verification asks for a different, unpredictable camera path. A clip filmed yesterday can’t satisfy a motion script generated this second.
Photo & screen-replay detection
A real 3D item reveals new surfaces as the camera moves around it — a photo, poster, or screen never can. We check for that parallax first, plus moiré, glare, and flat depth: the signatures of filming a picture instead of the item.
Visual spec-matching
The footage is checked against the claimed model and its expected features — so a generic stand-in can’t pass as the specific item being listed.
The badge
One small mark that buyers learn to trust.
A verified listing carries a quiet green badge. Over time it becomes the signal serious buyers look for first — and the thing honest sellers want on their listing. The trust lives on the item, not the account.
